When you register a domain, you are asked to provide a valid address, email and phone number as per the policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. This information, though, is not kept only by the domain name registrar, but is accessible to the public on WHOIS lookup websites too, so anyone can view your information and many people may not be satisfied with that fact. As a consequence, a lot of domain registrars have introduced the so-called Whois Privacy Protection service, which hides the client’s contact details and upon a WHOIS check, people will see the details of the registrar, not the domain owner’s. This service is also called Privacy Protection or Whois Privacy Protection, but all these expressions refer to the exact same service. As of now, most of the top-level domain names around the world allow Whois Privacy Protection to be enabled, but there are still country-code extensions that don’t support this service.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you’ve ordered a cloud hosting from our company and you’ve registered one or more domains under your account, you’ll be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without any effort and to keep your personal information intact. Of course, this will be possible only with the extensions that support this option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol to the right of each of your domain names. Its colour will inform you whether a domain is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can add Whois Privacy Protection with just a few clicks. In this way, you can shield your personal info even if you have not added the Whois Privacy Protection service upon signup. You will be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you register a domain name under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service without any difficulty. This takes only a couple of mouse clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you administer everything related to your semi-dedicated account. This is where you can see all your domain names and for each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, using which you can order, renew or deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-code domain name extensions that support this option and you will be able to see this beforehand, so that you will not end up ordering a service that we can’t provide.
